Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

QUESTION:

a vine plant with small white flowers with a small red flower on the end of the bloom, looks like a little red bird sitting on the flower. It is beautiful.

ANSWER:

Mr. Smarty Plants thinks this sounds a lot like Clerodendron thompsoniae (Bleed Heart Vine), a native of west Africa.  If this isn't the vine, please send us photos and we will do our best to identify it.  Visit Mr. Smarty Plants' Plant Identification page to find instructions for submitting photos for identification.
