Q. Who is Mr. Smarty Plants?

A: There are those who suspect Wildflower Center volunteers are the culpable and capable culprits. Yet, others think staff members play some, albeit small, role. You can torture us with your plant questions, but we will never reveal the Green Guru's secret identity.

Title: Coconut in a husk from Round Rock TX
Answered by: Barbara Medford

QUESTION:

Looking for a coconut in its complete husk ?

ANSWER:

From this Specific Profiles for Pacific Island Agroforestry it looks like you might have to travel a bit to find the fruit of the Cocos nucifera, a palm tree. Anyway, it's a tad out of our line, which is the growth, protection and propagation of plants native to North America. You might try some large grocery stores, see if they carry coconuts in the husk at any time during the year.
