Native Plants
Schwartzman, Steven
Long-time photographer Steven Schwartzman became interested in native plants in 1999, and since then he has striven to portray them artistically. That has often meant kneeling down or lying on the ground in order to see them in new ways. In addition to photographing flowers, he has focused on other features and stages in a plant’s development, including buds, new growth, tendrils, and leaves or stems changing color. He has been fascinated by some of the forms that plants take on as they go to seed and even after they dry out.The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is committed to developing the premier resource for native plant images in North America through continued growth of the Plant Image Gallery. You can help us achieve our mission ...to increase the sustainable use and conservation of native wildflowers, plants, and landscapes... by becoming a contributor.
