Habitat: Almost full shade of trees & taller shrubs. Moist, alluvial soil.
Description: Shrub, 4 m tall, Branches gray. Leaves alternate, long petioled, oddly pinnate (3-7), ovate-lanceolate, acute, serrate, to 4x13 cm. Flowers fascicled, mostly before leaves, from old axils, fragrant, pinkish. Calyx 5-lobed. Petals 4-5, clawed. Anthers bright red. Fruit not present.
