Habitat: Shrub, in shade of Juniperus ashei and Quercus virginiana. Soils from stoney and poor to rocky, but rich in leaf litter.
Description: Flower in a glomerate, green; pistils-5, opposite petals, disk fills the calyx; leaves 2 cm x 1 cm elliptic to oblanceolate in a fascicle w/numerous flowers of shoot; shrub to 1.5 m, fruit a caplule, dry (last years), 3 stoned.
