Abstract
Studies the effects of seasonal changes on the breeding system and phenotypic gender of Passiflora incarnata in Alachua County, Florida. Passiflora incarnata is an obligate outcrosser pollinated by carpenter bees. Fruit set was not limited by pollinators but fruit wet and number of seeds increased with hand pollination. Although flowers are hermaphroditic, morphological differences cause some flowers to function as males and others as hermaphrodites. The population became increasingly male-biased as the reproductive season progressed.Suggested Citation
