Abstract
Examines the effects of defoliation on fruit set and gender expression in Passiflora incarnata. Flowers were sensitive to defoliation at any stage before anthesis, although fruit set in hermaphroditic flowers was not affected by defoliation. The characteristic of changing gender expression in P. incarnata seems to be an adaptation to fluctuation resources at a fine scale.Suggested Citation
