Studies the reproductive biology of Zamia pumila for eight years following fire. Male plants tended to produce cones once every 1.6 years and produced a mean of 1.45 cones per year. Female plants produced cones once every 3.7 years with a mean of 0.35 cones per year. Leaf and cone production decline after 8-9 years as other plants regrew following fire.Suggested Citation
