Abstract
Examines the role of five individual plant species in filtering and controlling nitrogen and phosphorous in riparian streams. Sparganium americanum and Juncus effusus were among the plants evaluated; the five species showed differential accumulation and release of nitrogen and phosphorous. This differential accumulation may influence the overall potential of a wetland to retain nutrients from agricultural runoff.Suggested Citation
