Yellow flowers in a crowded, head-like cluster on each of several nearly leafless stalks growing from basal leaves.
Ivesia is a western genus with mostly yellow flowers; a few species have white or pink flowers. The genus is closely related to Horkelia, which has stamens with broad filaments. Cinquefoils (Potentilla) are similar but usually do not have stalks at the base of the petals, and the three uppermost leaflets do not grow together as they do in many Ivesia species.
