A low plant with few stems ending in open clusters of 1-3 slightly bilaterally symmetrical, yellow flowers on short stalks; leaves grayish green, with only 2 leaflets.
This plant was formerly placed in the large genus Cassia, many species of which are trees or shrubs, found primarily throughout the world's tropics. A recent study has indicated that Twinleaf belongs in the genus Senna.
